Viet Nam has been selected for these national consultations given its impressive MDG achievements, and recent status as a middle-income country. As part of the consultation process, the UN in Viet Nam will asking a broad range of Vietnamese citizens what world they want in 2015 and what kind of development goals should be put in place.

Millennium Development Goals 2010 National Report

Having successfully executed its ten-year Strategy for Socio-Economic Development 2001-2010, the country has not only escaped poverty and lifted itself to middle-income status but also demonstrated the success of its policy approach. Viet Nam has weathered the global economic crisis while maintaining its performance in socio-economic development, poverty reduction and environmental protection.

The Millennium Development Goals Report 2011

This report draws on data from numerous international agencies and national governments to present an accounting to date of how far the world has come in meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It outlines the significant progress made by some countries towards the MDGs, but also demonstrates that efforts to reach the MDGs by 2015 still need to be intensified.
