World renowned expert on climate change visits Viet Nam
Ha Noi - Dr Rajendra K Pachauri, Chairman of the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), made his first official visit to Viet Nam from August 16-18. He gave a keynote address at a workshop on “Climate Change and Climatic Extremes in Viet Nam”. The workshop was jointly hosted by the UN Development Programme in Viet Nam and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, to highlight the main findings of the IPCC special report on “Managing Risk of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation”.
While in Viet Nam, Dr Pachauri met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and other leaders of the Vietnamese Government and the United Nations Country Team to discuss strategic priorities in responding to climate change. In addition, Dr Pachauri met with the press and hold a public lecture on global climate change at the Water Resources University.
