UNDP Administrator Helen Clark visits Green One UN house
As part of her official visit to Vietnam, UNDP Administrator Helen Clark toured the site of the new Green One UN House that is scheduled for completion next year in Hanoi.
The Green One UN House will help the UN in Viet Nam “Deliver as one” and “Deliver Green”. Currently, UN staff in Viet Nam are housed in many different locations across Hanoi. Co-location into the Green One UN House will facilitate teamwork of the UN in Viet Nam and contribute to its efficiency and the effectiveness of development results. Ecologically friendly building materials will be used in the building. Energy consumption will be reduced by at least 20 percent compared to other similar-sized building. Photovoltaic panels on the roof will harness solar energy and generate 10 percent of the building’s annual electricity requirements. By using water more efficiently, expected water use will be reduced by about 45 percent.
