Launch of online speaking contest on biodiversity for youth and studentsJun 1, 2018
Ha Noi, 1 June 2018 – The UN Development Program (UNDP) and Biodiversity Conservation Agency, Viet Nam Environment Administration launched the online speaking contest "Sustainable Development Goals on biodiversity and financial resources for biodiversity" in Viet Nam.
Vietnamese citizens aged between 18 and 24 who are studying and/or working at local colleges and universities are encouraged to enter the online speaking contest. Each author or group of authors may submit a maximum of 3 videos of themselves as they give a speech on biodiversity conservation financial mechanisms. Videos must be sent to the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org between 21 June and 21 September 2018.
The contest aims to raise Vietnamese youth’s awareness of biodiversity and sustainable financial resources for its protection, while creating a space for their creativity to develop and in which they can improve their presentation, analytical and synthetical skills.
Candidates must present financial mechanisms for biodiversity conservation. Some of the themes may include: the financial resources that will sustain biodiversity conservation in Viet Nam, the resources needed to conserve biodiversity; strategies to reduce biodiversity conservation costs; necessary measures and efforts to make biodiversity activities more effective.
The speech may also provide insights on the sustainable conservation of aquatic and on-land plant and animal species. on the reasons why plants and animals are essential and overall solutions to biodiversity loss.
Videos should be no longer than 10 minutes. Candidates may participate individually or in groups. Candidates will be short-listed based on the number of "likes" on the Viet Nam Biodiversity Facebook fanpage. The twenty clips with the highest number of “likes” will be selected and evaluated by the judges. Three clips produced by individuals and three clips produced by groups will be selected for the award.
The award ceremony will be tentatively organized in September 2018.
