UNDP Administrator Helen Clark will have a dialogue with ethnic minority women in Hanoi today to hear about challenges they face in their communities and how they have addressed them. The discussion will bring together more than 20 ethnic minority women from the northern mountainous provinces of Hoa Binh, Lang Son and Yen Bai and central highland province of Dak Lak.

A high-level seminar today focused on how to increase women’s representation in elected positions to 35 percent in 2016. The discussion brought together representatives from the Party; Government; Standing Committee of the Women Parliamentarians Group; People’s Committees of several provinces; as well as Ambassadors and representatives from International Organizations.

A forum today highlighted the need to apply a multi-dimensional approach to poverty. Members of the National Steering Committee for Poverty Reduction; representatives from the Government, the National Assembly, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations and development partners gathered in Ha Noi to discuss the progress of poverty reduction work, measures to tackle challenges and orientation for the coming years.

The Government of Viet Nam today took another major step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and rural development with the gathering of more than 100 stakeholders from national government, local authorities, non-government organizations and development partners at an inception workshop in Ha Noi to shape the implementation of UN-REDD Viet Nam Phase II.

Survey gives citizens unique opportunity to voice their concerns with governance and public administration
The second annual results of an innovative governance survey released today warn that bribery remains widespread in the public sector, and that many citizens perceive bribery to be on the rise. Nearly 14,000 people were interviewed in the latest survey of the Viet Nam Governance and Public Administration Performance Index, PAPI, which was conducted by CECODES in collaboration with the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, with support from the UN.
