New report confirms corruption as entrenched as ever

A national survey released last week has found that while local companies complain that corruption makes business more difficult, they see bribery as not only a key to success, but as an inseparable part of Vietnamese business culture.

"Not enough has been done on this regards and the practice continues," said Jairo Acuña Alfaro, policy advisor on anti-corruption for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Viet Nam. "This new survey reconfirms the challenges to address the problem of 'systemic corruption in Viet Nam, and uncovers 'business as usual' practices that hamper further investment"
