Response to crisis in Viet Nam

Project Summary:

The project “Response to crisis in Vietnam” aims to deliver UNDP’s swift response and recovery support to Government of Vietnam’s efforts in responding to COVID-19 pandemic as well as drought and salt water intrusion affecting provinces of the Mekong Delta and other parts of southern Viet Nam. The project includes TRAC 1.1.3 support for coordination and support for urgent communications on COVID-19 (focused on people with disabilities and ethnic minorities), Japan Supplementary Budget (JSB) support on promoting Human Security and Leaving No One Behind through an integrated response to COVID-19 in Viet Nam focused on the most impacted and vulnerable populations in the most affected areas as well as the service measures needed to buffer the impact and increase resilience, and TRAC 1.1.3 support for understanding and mitigating the impact of drought and saltwater intrusion on poor and vulnerable households.

Project Objectives:

  1. Coordinate assessments and communication activities focusing on the most vulnerable groups.
  2. Health Systems Strengthening through procurement and enhanced inventory management of PPE and development of standards and quality assurance for national PPE production.
  3. Inclusive and integrated crisis management and responses through support to national and sub-national capacities for planning and coordination, focused on SMEs and cooperatives.
  4. LNOB support for response and recovery of impacted groups.
